Wooden Boat Maintenance, Repair, and Reconstruction

What began as a hobby and serious passion has evolved into a business and facility dedicated to the stewardship of wooden boats. 

Our shop was started for our own use, maintaining and repairing the wooden boats that we commercially operate in the summer through our company Casco Bay Custom Charters. The rigors of providing high-end private sightseeing, dining, and special event charters mean that we must hold ourselves to very high standards. Not only are form and finish important, but so is absolute safety and reliability as our reputation and our livelihoods depend on our boats always looking and performing their best. The results speak for themselves, both in terms of our beautiful wooden vessels and the 5-star reviews we receive from our charter guests.

Over the years our boat shop has grown to serve a number of customers in addition to our own fleet. Our list of accomplishments includes major rebuilds, stem and sternpost replacements, significant refits, repowers, plus smaller projects and even our own new construction. We have a full woodshop plus a small machine and fabrication shop, allowing our creativity to flourish as we work with our clients to achieve their goals for their wooden boats, no matter how big or small the job.

As with most serious wooden boat enthusiasts, we view wooden boats as being their own living entity, and we are more stewards than owners or builders. Our job is to help ensure the vibrance and longevity of these beautiful craft. Naturally, we gravitate toward many traditional boat building methods, but we aren’t afraid to combine tradition with modern innovation. What’s most important is preserving not only the boat itself, but the functionality and utility of the boat so that those who operate her can do so with great enjoyment for many years to come.
